Signal Mountain offers a pleasant escape after a long day or is an excellent morning boost, with fantastic views of sunrise. In the 1930’s, Signal Mountain was used as a forest service fire lookout, as the valley can be observed for miles to the east. Our founders had the simple idea to serve delicious chicken fingers, wings, sandwiches, and salads in a fun, offbeat atmosphere where you can be. Exact opening dates depend on weather conditions. Incredible bird’s-eye views of the mountain range, the valley, and the winding Snake River are seen from the top. Segments Teton Park Road Climb, 0.27 mi, 299 ft Jenny Lake, 3.04 mi, 148 ft Signal Mountain Rd Climb, 4.80 mi, 820 ft Signal Gate To Summit, 4.56 mi, 761 ft. 'The Signal Mountain Summit Road and the Moose-Wilson Road (from Death Canyon Trailhead to Granite Canyon Trailhead) close between November 1st and mid-May each year. The summit provides one of the finest geology sights in the area, as the landscape appears as a painting under your feet. How to use the Signal Mountain Traffic Map Traffic flow lines: Red lines Heavy traffic flow, Yellow/Orange lines Medium flow and Green normal traffic or no traffic. “From gray-green sagebrush covered flats to the forested moraines and kettled area to the east, the handiwork created by glaciers thousands of years ago is spread out on the valley floor below.” “Jackson Hole Hikes,” by Rebecca Woods, describes the Signal Mountain Summit quite accurately. The Teton Park Road is open to biking from November 1 until it is snow covered. ![]() The road is groomed for skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking from mid-December to mid-March. For those with less time, the drive only takes about 10 minutes to reach the top. The Teton Park Road is closed November 1 to April 30 from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge. The path climbs at an elevation gain of 633 ft. By foot the hiker faces a moderate, steady grade and a 5.5 mile round trip. There are two ways to the top, a paved road for bikes and vehicles and a trail for pedestrians. Climb over 1,000 feet as you drive up Signal Mountain Roads five miles of switchbacks for great views of the Teton Range, Jackson Lake, and the Snake River. Waterfowl and wildlife grace the area, and elk can be heard bugling in the autumn months. The climb to the summit is through Douglas firs, aspens, meadows, ponds, and several overlooks of the Tetons and Jackson Lake.
